Children & Youth Programs
Worship: 8:30 or 10:30 a.m.
Children are always welcome and encouraged to attend worship at either 8:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. At both entrances to the sanctuary, your child can pick up a Worship Activity Bulletin (available in versions both readers & for non-readers) with puzzles and crayons. In the summertime, children may especially enjoy the 8:30 a.m. service outside in the beautiful garden courtyard.
About 10-15 minutes into the 10:30 service, one of our pastors invites the children forward to the sanctuary front steps for a brief “Let the Children Come” message just for the children. Then right after the Children’s Message children in pre-school through 3rd grade are invited to leave the sanctuary accompanied by two teachers to participate in “Children’s Worship,” a fun half-hour worship time designed especially for young children. Children hear Bible stories come to life, experience time of silence, learn to pray, and sing songs. Children’s Worship is located on the 2nd floor in room 211 (up the small set of stairs to the right of the coat racks).
Sunday School: 9:30 a.m.
During the school year
In our Sunday School we provide a welcoming, healthy environment for children to learn, pray, and play.
Our children’s ministries take place on the second and third floors. When entering from the Parish House Lobby, take the stairs or elevator to the second floor.

Children’s Music Ministry
Every Second Sunday of the month we have energetic singing with our Children’s Music Director, Lisa Boggess. She teaches the children a new song each month during the 9:30am Sunday School hour. Then during the 10:30am worship service the children share the new song they have learned with the congregation. Parents are always welcome to join in the fun with their children.
LightShine Choir:
Our children’s choir is open to all children who can read (usually grades 1-6). Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays (September through May) from 4:00 p.m. -5:15 pm. The children sing in worship on these Sundays:
- At least one Sunday in the fall
- Christmas Eve Family Service (5 p.m.)
- Palm Sunday—palm parade and singing
- Mother’s Day in May
Nursery Care during Worship and/or Sunday School:
Nursery care is available for infants and toddlers from 9:15 a.m. until 12:00 noon in Room 105, which is located on the first floor just beyond the Parish House Lobby down the hall eastward to the right. Room 105 is immediately on your left. We have 2 highly qualified, energetic women caregivers willing to care for and play with your child(ren) while you worship. This room is also used by our Nursery School during the week and thus is outfitted with a variety of toys, tables for coloring, and a private bathroom.
A Few Highlights:
- Bibles for 3rd Graders: 3rd graders begin learning about the Bible more in depth in January and then have an "Under-night" (6 p.m.-9 p.m.) one Friday evening in early spring. They receive their own Bibles the following Sunday morning during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
- Confirmation for Junior High: Confirmation is a 2-year program. 7th and 8th graders participate in monthly learning sessions (September through April) with our pastors. Students are also complete service hours and attend worship services. Students are confirmed in the spring of their 8th-grade year.
- Mission Trips for High School Youth: Youth go on a week-long mission trip each summer. Recent destinations have included Kentucky, Tennessee, and Denver. The trips typically include activities such as construction projects, day camps, or working with the homeless. The trip usually concludes with a day of fun (white water rafting, hiking, etc).
