Mission and Outreach Opportunities
Mission is defined as congregational activities outside of the local church through which we, as Christians, bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to others and/or express our love for our fellow peoples of God's Creation.
Two types of mission opportunities are described on this site - those Trinity United Methodist Church currently engages in and others that may be of interest to its congregation. The former is usually led by a congregation member or team which organizes, publicizes, and participates in the mission work. By contrast, the many additional opportunities open to us through wider church mission initiatives are led by others and will require that the inquiring persons take greater responsibility for their participation.

Denominational Mission Support - Apportionments
The United Methodist Church system of "connectionalism" relies upon churches to provide funds to the Conference and Denomination to support large initatives, educational systems, and global evangelism. In 2005, Trinity UMC donated over $93,000 to the Northern Illinois Conference under this apportionment system.
