An Invitation
Miracles do happen--I'm the last person I'd expect to be a Pumpkin Patch leader. Pastor Kirk has assured me that this gargantuan, overwhelming task can be broken down into small simple tasks, and shared among many people. Not burdensome, but FUN. A joyful service! After a long redundant cycle of prayerful consideration and resistance, my mind slowly lit up with the thought that this would be a great way to put my faith in action. I'm honored to help with Trinity's biggest mission outreach fundraiser.
And I'm certain that as we gather our team and share our plans, others will come forward to help us brainstorm, and divide the tasks. Enthusiasm will build! And again we'll see in action the heartfelt compassion that characterizes our Trinity community! Already we're blessed with the experience and insights of the past Patch leaders: Tom Board has made us an enormously helpful detailed task template to work with.
What we need now: Daily schedule captains, each taking one day per week during the sales season. For example, the Monday person will call reminders to the Monday sellers, and try to fill any openings for their day--and be responsible for each Monday of the sale. There will be 3 two hour shifts on weekdays, which fill up pretty well, so there shouldn't be too many |

slots to fill.
We're brainstorming @ the waste of our bruised pumpkins--they're said to be excellent for certain livestock. Does anyone have connections with, or knowledge of area livestock owners who may be interested--free for the pick-up? Or are there any enterprising groups who may want to do a roast-a-thon with some discards for a pumpkin pie fundraiser or soup kitchen give-away? (You could freeze it & bake later). Please contact me or Pastor Kirk if you have any ideas.
We'd love to have you join the team. This promises to be an exciting and productive year for the missions we support: as many members each do small things, Something Large will be accomplished! Before you know it, we'll have PUMPKIN POWER! And blessings will abound! Woopee! That's my dream, and our goal. Won't you join us?
