- Pumpkin Patch
- Daily during October
|
Trinity UMC sells pumpkins to fund several mission projects, to inform the community of those missons, and raise church visibility in the community. This is Trinity's only mission fundraising activity and it brings the congregation and community together. The Pumpkin Patch operates for the entire month of October on the south lawn.
Volunteers are needed to unload pumpkins on two delivery dates and to staff the sales table for two-hour shifts between noon and dusk each day. Training is available for those unsure of themselves in a sales role. Contact Tom Board. |

- Senegal Medical Mission Trip
- Annually in January or February for two weeks
|
A team from Trinity UMC travels to Dakar, Senegal to work with United Methodist missionaries in that country. The emphasis is on health education, wellness and nutrition. At least half of the time is spent outside of Dakar in villages and small cites with United Methodist congregations where the team worships and works. See our Senegal Mission Web Page for links to trip Web sites and other information.
Participants must pay their own expenses for travel and support from the local mission team. Recent expenses totaled $3,400 per person. Vaccinations against Yellow Fever and Typhoid are required, as are daily anti-Malarial drugs. All volunteers are welcome; however, the team especially needs persons fluent in French or with practical professional medical experience. Contact Dr. Carol Meynen. |

- Ebenezer UMC
- schedule
|
Trinity United Methodist Church has worked with Ebenezer Church since its inception in 2000. Ebenezer Church is located in Chicago near the intersection of North and Grand Avenues at 1513 North Kedvale. Under the direction of Maria Margarita Torres, Ebenezer Church ministers to the surrounding community. In addition to basic ministry, Ebenezer’s after school program provides a safe, caring environment for children of working parents, a time for children to complete homework, and a healthy snack for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. In the past, Trinity has provided funding for building repairs and renovations, has held book and clothing drives, and has donated Halloween pumpkins. Visits take place between the congregations at least once each year. |

- Christmas Family Sharing
- Mid-November to early December
|
As an extension of our ministry with Ebenezer Church in Chicago, Trinity provides Christmas gifts for the children there. The gifts for each child combine a practical clothing item with a toy. Members pick a child and his or her wish list. The wrapped gifts are assembled at Trinity for delivery in mid-December.
The gift delivery is a joyous occasion with a caravan of Trinity parents and children joining Ebenezer in a "come as you are" Christmas Pagent. Afterwards, gifts are distributed and refreshments are served. Christmas is never so bright as with the Ebenezer children! |

- Trinity Food Pantry
- Year around
|
For many years, Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilmette has maintained a Food Pantry ministry to the community. Stocked by donations from the congregation and supplemented weekly by shopping for produce and dairy products, the Food Pantry serves our neighbors, the homeless, and the congregation itself in times of need. While a small operation, the Food Pantry distributes over 400 bags of groceries each year – each one lovingly prepared especially for that recipient.
Donations must be non-perishable foods in unopened boxes or cans. Please avoid “family size” containers, as those most in need are best served with single-serving sizes. Most appropriate are “ready to eat” or “heat and serve” foods that are high in protein. Canned meats, soups, and canned vegetables are very helpful.
Monetary contributions are especially needed to help with the cost of fresh foods purchased each week. You can also help by being willing to be called occasionally to shop for foodstuffs. Please give your telephone number or e-mail address to the church office and indicate that you are willing to help the Food Pantry when the need arises. Contact Mary Lou Nash. |

- University Christian Ministry
- September to mid-June
|
University Christian Ministry at Northwestern University is a partnership campus ministry of the United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church (USA). First begun in 1936, UCM is a mainstream Protestant ministry emphasizing social justice, religious tolerance, and Christian compassion. The ministry’s goals are to connect students to their faith roots, to encourage growth, and to mentor future Church leaders.
UCM is bustling with student activities between mid-September and mid-June. For Spring Break, UCM organizes a mission trip for between 12 and 16 students to work on a project in another cultural context. Past destinations have included El Salvador, Cuba, Russia, and Haiti.
UCM is directed by a full-time pastor and a Board of Trustees representing local Presbyterian and Methodist churches, participating students, alumni, and at-large members. As a participating church, Trinity is represented on the Board of Trustees and provides financial support. Monetary contributions support operations of the house and programming. Other opportunities exist for house repair projects, gardening, and serving dinner before the Sunday evening worship service. |
